Dive RAID Cave Diver 2

After graduating from the RAID Cave 1 program, you have already experienced the wonder of cave diving and you are now familiar with the advanced system of learning that RAID offers. If you're coming into this program from another training agency, get ready to be challenged and experience the "RAID difference"

This program has been developed by professional cave instructors who are also avid cave divers who love cave diving, And while this program pays homage and gives respect to traditional cave training techniques and limits, it adds additional skills that RAID's development team believes are required to execute "Full Cave Dives" safely, comfortably, and enjoyably.

RAID CAVE DIVER 2

Is primarily a complex navigation course and expands on knowledge and skills already mastered in the RAID Cave Diver 1. Skills you will master include jumps, gaps, tees, traverses and circuits. You will build on the entanglement and line repair skills, and the teammate rescue skills you learned in you RAID Cave Diver 1. The manuals are extremely modern, rich in graphics and much like all RAID manuals, they will auto update for life.

Penetration is not limited and divers may complete limited decompression and use one stage cylinder. While some believe the use of a stage bottle equals further penetration, at RAID we feel a stage also gives divers time to learn more about the cave environment and its character, and adds an element of safety when penetrating further.

Your RAID Cave 2 program is intended to build a greater understanding and appreciation of the fragile cave environment. By enrolling in this RAID Cave2 program, you are making a commitment to become a cave ambassador. And for that, we thank you.

RAID CAVE DIVER LEVEL 2: PURPOSE and CERTIFICATION LIMITS

This course is designed to safely train students to:

Dive to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet.

Maximum penetration of 1/3 starting pressure' plus 1/3 in one stage.

Use one stage to extend the range of the penetration, this stage cylinder may be a bottom mix or a decompression gas of up to 100% O2 in for optimise decompression obligations.

Complete decompression obligations to a maximum duration of 30 minutes.

Complete navigation cave dives including circuits, traverses, jumps, tees and gaps.

NOTE: RAID CAVE DIVER LEVEL 2 IS A LIMITED DECOMPRESSION COURSE WITH A MAXIMUM DECOMPRESSION OBLIGATION OF 30 MINUTES.

RAID CAVE DIVER 2: STUDENT PREREQUISITES

Be a minimum of 18 years old.

Be a certified diver for at least 3 months.

Be certified as a RAID Nitrox, Deco 40 and Master Rescue Diver (or equivalent) and have experience in Navigation and Night/Restricted Visibility diving.

Submit current Rescue Breathing, CPR Training and Oxygen Provider certificates.

Be certified as a RAID Cave 1 Diver or equivalent.

Have logged 10 Cave 1 dives.

Documented proof of prerequisite must be presented to the Dive Centre for approval prior to any in water training.

NOTE: THE RAID CAVERN DIVER CANNOT BE CREDITED TOWARDS CAVE 1 DIVER

RAID CAVE DIVER 2: STUDENT TO INSTRUCTOR RATIOS

Use your discretion as a RAID instructor to determine whether the conditions warrant reducing the maximum ratios as stated below. Always consider group control and student safety.

Confined Water or Pool Training - Maximum ratio: 6:1 with a maximum depth of 6m

It is highly recommended that a certified RAID assistant be utilised.

Open Water Training - Maximum ratio: 3:1

When the water temperature is 6°C / 43°F and below or the visibility is less than, 5m then the ratio is reduced to 2:1.

RAID CAVE DIVER 2: IN WATER TRAINING

Dive times for the DIVER course are a minimum of:

Confined water: Adequate time to show competency of all skills.

Open Water: 4 hours underwater (surface to surface)

CERTIFIED RAID CAVE 2 INSTRUCTOR
A certified RAID Cave 2 instructor is defined as an in- status and insured RAID Cave instructor or higher.

An Instructor wishing to teach Cave 2 diver to Sidemount students must be a RAID Sidemount Instructor and a RAID Cave Instructor.

The instructor must be present and in direct supervision of ALL segments of training always, during this course.

RAID CAVE CERTIFIED RAID ASSISTANT
A RAID DiveMaster or higher who is certified as a RAID Cave 2 diver or higher

CAVE 2 EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
For this course, the instructor and students will be required to have use of the following as a minimum:

In addition to the Cave 1 equipment requirements.

Decompression or Stage   Cylinder Configuration

One Oxygen clean DIN regulator with SPG on a 6-inch HP hose for optimised decompression mix.

One Side Slung Stage Cylinder (minimum 7L cylinder, recommended 11L / 80cf.)

RAID CAVE 2 CERTIFICATION
Will be awarded once the following minimum criteria have been met.

All Quizzes and exams are completed and passed.

All confined and Open Water skills are completed and signed off through the RAID Website by both the instructor and student.

The student has logged all their training dives online in their personnel “E-Logbook”.

The RAID Dive Centre has confirmed certification on line through the RAID website.

READINESS FOR CONFINED WATER TRAINING
Before commencing the confined water training students must pass all the READINESS skill training.
SWIM TEST
The purpose of the swim test is to ensure that students have a minimum level of fitness to enter the program. Advise students to practice beforehand, so that when they start the in water training they can easily pass the requirements.

STAMINA AND CHALLENGE SKILLS
Students must be accompanied always. In water too deep in which to stand, while wearing full technical equipment students must:

Swim 300 metres / 300 yards underwater continuously, without stopping while recording a gas consumption calculation (SAC Rate).

Tow an inert diver who is also fully equipped with full technical SCUBA equipment, for 150 metres / 150 yards.

Following exhalation, without removing the second stage from the mouth, swim horizontally for 10 metres / 10 yards to a dive buddy. While signalling “out of air” receive the donor’s regulator and breathe. After 3 breaths, the buddy team must swim 50 metres / 50 yards while sharing gas. Divers must alternate the roles of donor and receiver.

Repeat skill #3 while the out of air diver is not wearing a mask. Once the distance is covered, the out of air diver deploys the backup mask. Alternate the role of donor and receiver.

Follow a pre-set course along a line, wearing a blackout mask or mask cover while maintaining neutral buoyancy. This skill may not be conducted deeper than 6m.
OR

While neutrally buoyant, follow a pre-set course along a line while not wearing a mask. Once the skill has been completed, replace backup mask. This skill may not be conducted deeper than 6m.

NOTE: All swim tests must be passed before the end of the program. If any swim is failed it can be redone at any time prior to certification. Any swims that may have been completed within the last three (3) months may be credited
